Police found narcotics and a loaded weapon on rapper Nelly’s tour bus
at a border patrol checkpoint, TMZ is reporting, after a police canine
detected the presence of drugs.
According to TMZ,
police found heroin (36 small bags totaling .64 ounces), ten pounds of
marijuana (roughly the size of a large pillow) and a loaded .45 calibre
pistol on their search.
Of the six other people on the bus, a man named Brian Keith Jones
admitted the drugs and gun belonged to him. Jones was then placed under
arrest while the Hot In Here rapper and five others were released.
The tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra
Blanca, which is the same checkpoint where various other celebrities
have been caught with drugs over the years. The list includes Willie
Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Fiona Apple, the latter of whom was busted just
this month.
Nelly was born in Austin, Tex., and is a Grammy award-winning rapper. His album Nellyville, released in 2002, debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top 200 Music Albums, featuring such hits as Air Force Ones and Dilemma.
He also appeared alongside actors Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard.
